NEWS RELEASE
HARRIS COUNTY COMMISSIONERS COURT
POSTPONES NEXT MEETING, MID-YEAR REVIEW
Resignation of Commissioner Eversole Prompts One-Week
Postponement of Bi-Weekly Meeting and Annual Review
Harris County Commissioners Court announced this morning that it would postpone its next meeting and its annual Mid-Year Review one week. The meeting, originally scheduled for Tuesday, Sept. 27, will instead be held on Tuesday, Oct. 4. The Mid-Year Review, an annual review of the county’s budget and major policy issues, is scheduled to begin at 9 a.m.; the regular bi-weekly meeting will follow at 10 a.m.
The court will then meet again on Oct. 11 before resuming its usual bi-weekly schedule on Oct. 25.
Precinct 4 Commissioner Jerry Eversole announced this week that he would resign, effective Oct. 1, after more than 20 years representing more than 1 million people throughout parts of north and northeast Harris County. Harris County Judge Ed Emmett, who will appoint Eversole’s replacement, said he hopes to have a new commissioner in place for the Oct. 4 meeting.
