Harris County Judge Ed Emmett will meet with the news media this afternoon to update the public on steps being taken to improve security at the county’s juvenile detention facilities. Judge Emmett met with Juvenile Probation’s executive director Harvey Hetzel this afternoon to hear the results of an investigation into lax security standards that led to the discovery of a weapon in a juvenile’s cell at the downtown juvenile detention center. Emmett, the chairman of the county’s Juvenile Board, will discuss that report and the county’s response to it.
